Just some of our favorites!

KIRBY came from the pound with our Oreo. He bullied Tugger and Schiele something fierce, and we ended up giving him to my mother-in-law. He promptly became her favorite, and enjoyed his "harem" of female cats. Sweet and arrogant at the same time, he was a wonderful cat. Sadly, he has since crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

THEO is Stanley's sister, found stray with him, who also wound up with my mother-in-law (she's a sucker too!). She is, in my mother-in-law's words, "an elegant, dainty, Byzantine sort of creature." She's still pretty skittish, but fun to play with.

FREDEX was found at the FedEx depot, covered with engine oil and getting rained on. He quickly was dubbed FredEx. He went to the humane society and soon found a happy home. He is incredibly sweet, and was made their "Spotlight Pet" while he was at the CMHS. Fred is the sort of cat that licks you affectionately. ANYWHERE.

GINK was a black long-haired cat who would make the perfect witch's pet, except that she was exceedingly sweet and affectionate! We found her roaming a neighborhood, literally just skin and bones. Plus, whoever abandoned her left her to deal with the outside world declawed - cruelty plain and simple. Gink was also old, and a few months after we rescued her, she died peacefully in her favorite spot under my computer desk.

ZIGGY STARDUST is a black furry ball of energy, and very sweet when she wants to be. She was the only cat who made friends with the puppy we recently fostered though she was distant from all other animals at first. She was dumped with her siblings and mother in a local neighborhood, which just happened to be the neighborhood where my mother-in-law lives. (Did I mention that mom-in-law has 4 rescued cats of her own? :) ) Ziggy was placed in a loving home through one of my colleagues, where she redecorates the living room regularly.

SIAM-I-AM is a precious Siamese found in our neighborhood. We posted signs and the whole nine yards, but no one claimed her. She is friendly and sweet as can be and we considered keeping her, but she doesn't like other cats AT ALL, so it wasn't fair to her. We found her a new cat-free home with the help of Siamese Rescue, and Sam is now much happier and is the love of her new owners' lives.

AMSEY is a black-& white genius, possibly the smartest cat we've ever had (except our own Stanley!) He was found on the campus of the college where my husband works, wandering around outside DECLAWED. We kept him until a space opened up at the Humane Society, which will find him a home with humans who have the decency to keep a declawed cat indoors.

LIBERTY came to us at the tender age of one week. We bottle-fed him and raised him til he was 3 months old, at which time he went to a permanent home. He is sweet and playful and beautiful, and was very difficult to give up as we are totally in love with him! His name is in honor of September 11.

KI MING was a little one-eyed, barely weaned kitten when she was rescued in Davidson. She thrived with us, and found a loving home through Cabarrus Pets Society. She too was hard to give up - but aren't they all!
