is a good place to start searching for endangered species information on the
Web. It is a compendium of information, utilizing both information from EE-Link
and links to other sites. It has images and maps, links to lists of endangered
species, links to great factsheets about particular species, links to the text
of pertinent laws, curricula for classroom study, and more.
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Endangered Species

This
page contains information and updates on USFWS programs, their Endangered Species
Bulletin, the text of the Endangered Species Act, and some impressive lists
of endangered species. These list have detailed information about the species'
situation and in some cases have links to pictures and detailed species accounts
with references.
World Wildlife Fund -
The
WWF's homepage has a lot of information on their programs and
projects, including their Living Planet campaign. It also has a
catalog of their education resources, a "biodiversity IQ quiz," a
multimedia section, and information on some specific species. There
are sites for the WWF's chapters in many countries and in languages
other than English. The site is searchable.

Alberta's
Endangered Species -
Includes
habitat information, species information with illustrations, maps and
links, information about the proposed Canadian Endangered Species
Act, and lists of Canadian wildlife and endangered species
organizations.
An Endangered Africa - Includes maps, factsheets, good pictures and a monthly portrait of an endangered species in Africa.
Animal Welfare Institute - This site concentrates on more than endangered species, but it has information on campaigns such as the "Save the Whales" campaign, and a list of related publications. It is searchable.
Asian Conservation Awareness Program - Formerly the Jackie Wild Web Page, this site is "designed to raise awareness of the threat to five key species of endangered animals from illegal trade in animal parts." The five animals are tigers, turtles, elephants, rhinoceroses, and bears, and the site is available in English and Chinese. The Jackie part comes from a sponsorship by Jackie Chan.

Canadian Endangered Species - Highlights one species per week.
CITES - The full text of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, a treaty between countries banning importing and exporting of endangered species, can be found here, along with accompanying information about the treaty.
E-Cards - Lets you send online postcards with wonderful pictures of endangered animals (among other things), and they will donate money to the World Wildlife Fund for each card sent.
Endangered Animals of the World - This site has brief summary information about many species. It is a good site for an overview of the plights of many different kinds of animals.

The
outstanding feature of this site is a clickable map of the U.S. - click on a
state and get a list of endangered species in that state.
Endangered Species Chocolate Company - Each kind of chocolate bar this company sells is named after an endangered species, and the wrappers give information about the species. Part of the proceeds from the bars goes to help endangered species. The site has information about the chocolate bars as well as a monthly newsletter with updates on endangered species, related programs, and more. It also gives information about each species represented by a chocolate bar.
Endangered Species Recovery Program - California - has maps, species profiles, reports, much more.
Endangered Species UPDATE - This is the University of Michigan's magazine about endangered species.
Endangered Species and Wetlands Report - This is a "monthly nonpartisan newsletter of politics, regulation and law on the ESA, wetlands and takings." Includes up-to-date endangered species listing notices from the Federal Register.
Envirolink - Now covers much more than endangered species! It has news, actions, events, government information, merchandise, and much more. They still have a guide to the Endangered Species Act, with an overview of the act, action alerts, ESA publications, and an interactive forum for discussion of the act.
Endangered! - Exploring a World at Risk - The American Museum of Natural History's endangered species exhibit online.
ES2000 - Endangered Species of the New Millenium - This is a new, outstanding site. Its most unique feature is an interactive adventure. It also has quizzes, quotes and more.

The
EAN provides information on specific threats to species, with contacts of people
in a position to take action on each threat. It has sections for adults, older
children and small children.

site has endangered species news, projects, and activities, and a
newsletter and discussion group.
IUCN Red List of Endangered and Threatened Species - This is a complete list of species officially listed as endangered, threatened, or vulnerable as of 1994. The list is searchable by species, type of animal/plant/etc., and locality.
Jungle Juice - This site has FAQs on some species, a nice photo gallery, and the Animal Gazette online newspaper where anyone can write an article about endangered species. It was created by a 13-year old!
Lucky Duck's House - This site has information about many less-than-well-known species, such as bactrian camels and horseshoe crabs.

This
site has information primarily pertaining to endangered rainforest
species. It covers RAN campaigns and also has a kid's area, a
resource list and a quiz to test your knowledge of the rainforest.

Species Profiles of Threatened, Endangered and Sensitive Species on Department of Defense Lands - This site is part of the U.S. Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program, and contains exactly what the title says.
Threatened Species Network - Australia
Wildlife at Risk - Canada - includes bibliographies of print resources about many animals.
Wildlife Conservation Society -

society is based in New York. The site lists the society's projects
by geographical location, has information about wildlife centers and
aquariums, educational programs for schools and the public, and
related science center information (all mostly in the NYC area), and
has a kids' area and the latest magazine of the society.
The Wild Ones - ![]()
Has a weekly featured animal, as well as information about Wildlife Preservation
Trust International, which includes links to ask questions to their scientists.
