Emma goes to the library

Yes, Mommy finally took Emma on her first trip to the library. We went upstairs to the children's room, Emma marveled at the big Big Bird, then I told her "This was Mommy's second home as a kid, and I hope it will be yours too!" I put her down and she immediately ran into the stacks. The place really hasn't changed much at all since I was her age and I can still tell you more or less what is where. She ran up and down a couple of rows of stacks and managed to pull out a book about a duck (I think she has special duck-dar) so we sat at a table and read it. Then we went to the rack of board books, picked out 3 and checked them out. I will openly admit that I teared up as we left - to be sharing this experience with my own daughter was truly a treasured moment.

And better yet was the following week when we came back. I put the books to be returned on the desk, explained to her that we would return these and get 3 more, and put her down. She immediately ran to the rack of board books and started looking at them and picked out one she wanted! And we have read that one (and many others) over and over in the week since. She's our child, for sure!
