Holy crap, I think it's done!

My project at work lately has been a thing called TILT. This is an open source library/information literacy tutorial that I have been modifying for our library. It has been a lot of work, and there have been some hair-pulling moments for sure. And I think I actually just FINISHED! If anyone is really bored and has an hour to spare, feel free to take it for a test drive!

On another work-related note, I did performance evaluations for my fellow librarians this week. That was strange. I'm a sorta supervisory-type person now!

Wonders never cease.

"Favorite Patron" (said with dripping sarcasm) seems to have found an error on the Web that is actually an error on the part of the information provider, rather than an error of our slow computers or (the usual problem) an error of his own creation. I'm off to get my camera, wouldn't want to miss those flying monkeys...

Florida, here I come

We are leaving in the morning to go visit my dad for a few days. I am looking at this as a much-needed vacation, especially after the last weekend (this stuff, which I don't feel like blogging about right now). We plan to do some caching, do some beach bumming, and just relax and enjoy ourselves.

On a different note, I did my first ever solo during a clogging performance last week. We were dancing at a senior citizen's health fair, and it was in the middle of the day, which meant we had taken long lunch breaks from work to be there. We had a few home-schooled kids from our group there, and a wonderful audience who just loved us. Ginger had to leave after the 1st 3 dances to get back to work (she had a longer drive), hence my solo. It was one of the better performances we've done, I must say. And it resulted in a request to teach clogging at the senior center, which I passed on to Ginger, and quite a few ladies were interested in joining our next regular class - I hope they do!

Whoa.

I'm sure I've complained about the Friends of the Library luncheon here before. Well, I went into today's meeting expecting that they would pick a speaker and a date, and I'd know what I was in for next year. Well, they tentatively did that (and it's looking like April, which means it won't get snowed out next year at least). But somehow I came out of that meeting on a committee to plan a 2-day Friends-sponsored book fair, complete with food and local author signings, to take place on campus in October. What the HELL have I just gotten myself into?

Could be worse. The campus Cultural Program director attends some of our meetings because we work with her to bring the author-o-the-year for our luncheon and her writing programs. She got put on the book fair committee too, and she's not even on the Friends board. Well, I guess she is now, whether she intended to be or not!

Random Junk

Haven't blogged much of consequence lately, it's been too damn busy! The end of classes was last week, which meant we've been open extra hours for finals. And of course since I made the mistake of volunteering to work the Friday night exam shift once, it is now assumed that I will do it, this time I didn't even get asked. I just love working in an empty building til 11pm on a Friday night, let me tell ya. :P

On the bright side, performance season has started up again. We danced at Granite Quarry Fest yesterday, and the crowd was small but the dancing went pretty well. Our group has gotten huge with all the new folks that started in January! I think we had 16 people, and there were several that weren't there. Wow!!! The next performance is next weekend at CottonStock, but they insist on scheduling the dance performances all in the morning, which means I can't go because I have to be at commencement. Bleah.

In other news, we're painting the porch. It's looking really good!

And I think I totally forgot to blog about my 10th college reunion. It was a couple of weekends ago, and we had a great time. I got to see my first roommate for the first time since graduation, and some other folks too. And of course Stacy & Colby, my last roomie and her husband who are two of my best friends in the whole world, who we don't get to see near enough of. Did some caching in Durham while we were there, marveled at everything that has changed, and just generally enjoyed being away from everything.

And now it's bedtime. And I better go, because I am trying really hard to actually start getting to work on time. I've improved over the last couple of weeks, but I've got a ways to go. Nighty-night!
