Assorted goings-on, guilt, and whatnot
It's been a busy month. The on-campus dance class began, I have only had 1-3 students each week but the ones that come enjoy it. During fall break Brian and I took some time off and went camping in the mountains. We did a lot of hiking, a bit of caching, and some shivering, and we had a great time. We really needed the time away. When we got back from that, we started on the DVD of the clogging recital in August. Brian put a huge amount of thought, creativity and time into this - there aren't words to express how much I appreciate it. The result is an awesome DVD of the show, with picture slideshows thrown in, DVD and case labels featuring pics of the group, and more - it is a really professional job. So far we've sold 6 and just got orders for 2 more - so the "Crescent Cloggers Amp Fund" is getting some money in it! We have one more performance on Saturday, then we're done til the Christmas parades. And after that there's likely no performances until May or so unless we do a nursing home at some point. So Brian can have a wife again. :-) Thanks for putting up with me honey! I love you!
At work we are slowly rolling out the new computers. I got mine all fixed up last week. I had to rearrange my desk a bit which means I now have a pile of stuff and nowhere to put it. OK, I could actually do something silly like FILE the stuff, but then I'd never find it again! I know exactly where stuff is in my little mess!
Oh, and the guilt. I made a patron cry on Monday. This is a definite first for me. The backstory for this is waaaay to long to get into - this is "Favorite Patron", who I've posted about before. FP is not affiliated with the university, but lives right down the road and spends most of his days here, on the Internet. FP is... is... well, he has mental issues. He is the reason our community user policy morphed from "community users can't use the computers, except when we feel like letting them" to "community users can use the computer in the lobby for one hour at a time, and if there's no one waiting, we might let them stay on longer". The ultimate result of all this is that FP spent nearly as many hours here as the employees. To make a long story short, for a variety of reasons we are now strictly enforcing the 1-hour limit. It is not all FP's fault, and I do think (hope) I convinced him of that. And on one level, this decision is immensely relieving (FP often annoys the crap out of us). But, the fact is, this guy's only friends are online, and I have just severely curtailed his opportunity to interact with them. ***SIGH*** Sometimes being the director sucks.
On a happier note, our dossier was logged in China on October 13. We should have our referral in 6 months! The other night before bed I found myself singing to Emma. I was singing Somewhere Out There. I guess that's a good sign! :)
