OK, this is creepy.

I can see it now...
"Ma'am, what did the burglar take?"
"Well, he took all the silver, the cash from my wallet, several necklaces and Uncle Fred."

Please, please, don't anyone ever make jewelry out of me.

I must be some kind of idiot. No, I'm a big, fat sucker is what I am. I have let the university talk me into teaching an actual course this semester. It's a freshman into-to-college-life/preparing-for-careers/etc. sort of course. It starts tomorrow, and I just found out about this yesterday. Did I mention I have never taught in a classroom setting before? Did I mention that doing library instruction is one of the parts of my job I complain about most? What the hell am I thinking???

My mother, when she recovered from laughing, pointed out that I'm starting to sound like the Jamaican characters on In Living Color. (Hey mon, I have 10 job! I really miss that show.) Hmm, reference librarian, periodicals librarian, webmaster, library coordinator, now instructor. I think she's right.

If anyone happens to run into Andy Brown, who I think is in California now, please tell him about this, because they say laughter adds time to your life and this should add about 15 years to his.

How come every time I swear we're going to take a break from fostering cats for a while, we end up with more cats? We're currently fostering Ella, a gray 8-month-old female who spends lots of time hanging out in the bathroom, and Ki Ming, a 4-week-old kitten with a collapsed eye. (How can you not help something so pitiful?) I really, really do want to take a break from fostering for a while - even a month would do nicely! - but we seem to be designated as Takers-in of Stray Cats, and there's not a thing we can do about it. Guess we'll be spending the next several or more Saturdays at the Pets Society adoption day. **SIGH** Why do I have to be such a sucker? (Answer: the joy the cats give me. Or something like that.)

It's our anniversary, so I just have to tell the world that I LOVE BRIAN! :)

I'm taking a break from creating research guides because my computer politely decided to crash just before I saved the one I was working on. Then it crashed again two lines into retyping everything. The donation of machines Brian engineered for the library can't get here soon enough, and as soon as it does I'm replacing this piece of *(&@! Hopefully that will be tomorrow. Too bad I can't do the Office Space copier routine on this machine...:)

On the bright side, Brian's last exam was today and he is DONE with classes! Still has comps and thesis to go, but having no more classes is cause for a steak celebration this evening. We even bought a new grill for the occasion. (Hey, we wanted one anyway.) Soon his thesis will be complete, and we can discover what it's like to have a marriage with neither spouse in school! We're looking forward to it!

Well, I guess I gotta get back to typing in political science resources AGAIN...

Well, welcome to my blog. Who knows what I might end up writing here, although I imagine you can expect to see some stupid patron stories, commentary on the Charlotte Checkers and Duke basketball, and whatever weird or amusing things the cats have been doing. If in fact someone is reading this at all then I'm impressed. I don't exactly expect a lot of visitors here! :) So, thanks for coming, and let the blogging begin!

Oh, and if anyone has any suggestions for a better title for this thing, please let me know, since the current one is rather uncreative!
