Thoughts on teaching
Well, I just submitted the final grades for my class. Teaching has been an interesting experience. I'm the sort who always was willing to do the extra credit, tried to make the best grades I could, and would have never dreamed of not turning in an assignment, especially a major one. I guess I always knew that plenty of students aren't like me, but it's still odd to fully realize it, especially at the college level. I mean, if you don't care about doing the work or what your grades are, why are you in college?
On the whole though, I think I mostly enjoyed it. I had fun coming up with assignments and activities. If I do this again, I would like to know more than 2 days before classes start so I can plan ahead of time - I felt like I was barely one step ahead of the students figuring out what we were going to do in the next class. But I had some great kids, and overall I think it went well. It is weird being called Ms. Little so regularly though!
On a totally unrelated note, we just acquired a fridge for the library staff! Woohoo!
